How
Your digestive system digest all of the food that you eat. Your digestive system includes your, mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, and your butt. first step is chewing your food. There are multiple reasons for why you need to chew. The first reason that you need to chew is because it helps to digest the food particle starches. Starches is a form of carbohydrate. The mouth uses a digestive liquid called saliva. You have to chew your food because of you swallow it whole, you might choke on it.
Next in the digestion process is the esophagus. The esophagus and the epiglottis are in your throat. The esophagus doesn’t digest anything though. When you swallow your food, your epiglottis covers you wind pipe were all of your food goes. All your epiglottis does is making sure that no food goes down your throat. If food does happen to go down your wind pipe, your food could get stuck then you can't breathe and at worst, you could die. At best you will just cough on your food really hard.
Next in the digesting process is the stomach. While you call your tummy your stomach, that’s actually were your intestines are. Your stomach is located just above your ribs. Your stomach only digests protein. You need protein because it makes your muscles stronger. Your stomach digests using a digesting liquid called stomach acids.
Next in the digesting process come your small intestine. Your small intestine digests any left over protein, starches, and all carbohydrates. A liquid called small intestine digestive juice is used to help digest the food.
Next in the digesting process comes the pancreas. The pancreas digests leftover, starches, protein, and fats. The second to last thing in the digestive process is the liver. The liver and pancreas just make the juices needed for digestion on the digestive system.
The last thing in the digestive system is large intestine. The large intestine makes the poo.
Scientists have recently found a new organ in the new digestive system and it is called the mesentery. The mesentery use is for an unknown reason. As I said, the mesentery is a very new, not much research has been done on the new organ.
